Chores first THEN painting!

Well, when you cant actually ‘see’ much of the house, I think that is the time to have a clean and tidy up BEFORE I go in my shed to paint!
Havent had a chance to put away all of the stock we took out of Aberglasney last week, so it is all in the living room, and clutter attracts clutter……… or rather ‘I’ attract clutter!
Had a nice weekend, spent all Saturday morning shopping whilst hubby was in work – he had a 2 hour break so we had something to eat and I carried on with my shopping quest! Lots of birthdays to buy for.
Ended up buying myself sandals as my feet were killing after walking around for 4 hours in hot boots! Not the plan….. but they are nice!
Best get on then. I have done myself a list, lets see how well I do at sticking to it!

The photo is of my new friend, a raven who keeps strolling up the garden for a piece of bread. He is probably not the kind of bird to encourage, but he is so handsome I cant help but like him!

Aberglasney & Crafts from Carmarthenshire

What a wet day that was!
Spent a lovely day chatting to lovely members of our group, had a few coach trips in, but they were a bit reluctant to spend (unless it was in the tea rooms!) so a bit of a quiet day. Lets hope for better tomorrow – our last day.
The day was broken up a bit by having a lovely lunch with 2 lovely Arty friends, love them both to bits! A ‘half hour break’ turned into 1 1/2 hours,,,, oops! But the cafe was busy and they did take forever to serve us!
Back to painting tomorrow. Have talked enough today to last a week anyway!

Aberglasney Gardens

Yesterday the weather began horribly! Wind and rain for the Bank Holiday, but thankfully it cleared for most of the day and some people ventured to Aberglasney Gardens. Hardly what you could call busy though.
I spent the day stewarding our Exhibition with Crafts from Carmarthenshire, with lovely Ann and lovely Chris. Sold a few prints, cards etc…. and lots of other members goodies.
We are there until Thursday, so lets hope the sun will shine at Aberglasney and Picton Castle.

Picton Castle

Had a lovely day today. Friends came over from Bristol and after lunch we went to Picton Castle as they had never been, and also wanted to see my exhibition there.
It was a bit chilly but we had a pleasant walk around the gardens, the azalias are looking wonderful.
I swapped over a few paintings, replaced a sold one and had cake and coffee.
Home for a nice meal and evening of chat, now bed with a cup of tea and a chapter of a good book if I dont nod off first!
Has to be said, the evening was lot nicer than watching Britains Got Talent, – spending it with friends with the telly off!
Making cards tomorrow, not one of my favourite jobs as I would rather be painting, but – got to be done.

A day of Animals!

Well, we have had a day of lovely little animals! Started off by bottle feeding a cute lamb called Sage, having a chat with a couple of handsome rescued horses, then home to finally mow the lawn (so much rain lately it has gone mad!), before it rains again tomorrow.
The sea of yellow dandelions were pretty but have taken over, so ‘off with their heads’! Whilst mowing the field next to us is full of tiny baby calves, totally adorable….. but boy do they nag!
They arent much bigger than a big dog, and when they hear a lawn mower they think it is a quad bike with the farmer bringing them milk.
They feed them from a big round container of milk and they stand around it in a circle, little tails wagging happily.
Peace at last!
Its amazing how such small animals have a ‘grown up’ deep sounding ‘Moo’!
Must take some photos to paint some lovely cow noses!

Just had a cup of tea outside and a bee insisted on trying to land on a picture of a flower on my mug!
Animals all day long…………

Dont forget – with the weather improving – Picton Castle is a lovely day out and my exhibition is still on.
Also, Aberglasney House and Gardens – we are there from Friday for a week, go on……….. go to both!

Rain and howling gails!

Well, what April weather we are having! May tomorrow, lets hope it changes for the better. I am busy making cards – a very time consuming business and I wish I was painting instead, but these little things have to be done, along with framing paintings and mounting prints. When I get rich I will get staff to do these things for me!!!!

In the meantime……….. card making it is then!

I will be in Aberglasney Gardens from Friday onwards, just for one week with Crafts from Carmarthen. I have a wall space and stall there. I seem to have been preparing forever for a relatively small area to fill! Still, I will try to squeeze in as much as I can, and hope to sell lots of my goodies!
I always enjoy my time Exhibiting at Aberglasney, so am looking forward to it.
If you need a lovely day out in the meantime – my sole Exhibition is still on at the lovely Picton Castle and Gardens in Haverfordwest. You have until the end of May to catch it.

Picton Castle and Gardens

I currently have an Exhibition at the beautiful Picton Castle in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.
The gallery rooms are lovely and bright and make a perfect venue for my work.
I have been asked to extend my show into May, which is great.
I am now there until 27th May – so you have even longer to get there to see it! No excuses! ;-)
Picton in Bloom is on during May as well, making it even better to visit. The gardens will look pretty, and events, talks, plant sales etc… will be on each weekend.

All of my paintings on show are for sale, and I also have cards and gifts in the shop.

Go on, have a day out!

It was really nice to have a few days of chatting, eating, chatting, shopping, chatting etc…..

Good Friday

Today is Good Friday – in many ways the true meaning of Easter has gone – just like Christmas.
Christmas for many is a time for lots of food, lots of spending and lots of stress! Easter means a few days off work and chocolate!
I’m not much of a chocolate fan – I still have sweets left from Christmas! I like a chunk now and again.
Easter for me it a time of Spring. To appreciate the start of a new year, with new life springing up all around us.
Today I saw a sparrow collecting feathers ready to build a nest – despite a frost this morning, the tulips and daffodils are looking beautiful and I managed to plant the rest of the seed potatoes.
Looking forward to a nice little crop in July!

I hope – if you can, visit Picton Castle and Gardens in Haverfordwest over the holidays. My exhibition is on, I have over 50 paintings on display for sale. Take a look at their website for more details and how to get there.

The painting shown is of the pretty town of Haverfordwest, and for sale at my exhibition.
